Do any of you read much? I read a lot as a kid, and I still read when I can. Which is usually when I travel.
Anyway, I just thought of this thread because of a book that I'm reading right now that is pretty sweet. It's called "Robert Ludlum's: The Moscow Vector". He is probably my favourite author. Actually, on second thought, I think I like Michael Crichton a bit better.
But regardless, a VERY good book so far.

Yeah, I used to read a LOT. As a kid, definitely in college, and after that I worked for a School Library Journal children's book review magazine (this is when I was trying to get published) running the book room, reading all the new stuff and organizing 300 reviews a month. lots and lots of proofreading, but I loved it. epsecially seeing the new books months before they hit the books stores, and best of all I was right near Library Journal, and my friends there gave me some galley proofs from my favs, again - months before they hit the stores. I had proofs from Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Anne Rice, Terry Brooks...and my friends were getting in line to borrow them. Then I had to leave. I was getting no where with Disney and there was too much estrogen in the editorial department. Damn pea hens. Like music, I liked just about everything. But currently I have about 20 books of required reading to get through for Harp Therapy. I'm on my 4th, and occasionally will pick up an old book to "revisit", I love reading favs over and over again

Whoa! Those are some big names! Stephen King? That's nuts....
Ya, I used to always read on my free time. Of course, nowadays, I don't have much free time...
I still enjoy Ludlum, and revisiting my Crichton books...

Ah Goosebumps, I think R.L Stine cranked out 2 or 3 a month. We used to get his stuff all the time.

Oh no no, we had the proofs to read and then write the reviews. I actually just checked and did the final proof for the reviews themselves.
I didn't write too many...but my friends at LJ would dangle the big name books in my face and say "Want it? Ya know you want it - but you get to write the review then!"

I never read a goosebumps book. But they were sort of past my time I think...
Seen the show on once or twice though, never really caught me as anything all that interesting though....

They were quick easy reads. Then again, the books were got were K - 12. Lots and lots of pretty picture books, I felt like I was time-warping back to childhood. And going through the young adult. I probably read 5 - 10 of them per day. We all had to speedread.
Sometimes I miss that job, especially with all the nephews and nieces I have now.

Cool. Never really read them.
So Lorelei, let me get this straight, you did the Editing for the reviews, not the actual books? Cuz I was gonna say....

Yep, editing for the reviews only. And THANK GOD that was it!! Otherwise I wouldn't sleep
There were SO many mistakes in the proof books when we got them, and the publishing house editors didn't catch all of them, I saw a lot of the same errors in finished bound copies. Ouch for them.
