Rare rare poignant moments…but they are there!
Okay, okay I know this doesn’t even come close to the funniest moments list, but have you ever seen a moment in Drawn Together that made you go “Aww.” ? I was thinking about this when I was watching the Season One DVD, the One Wherein There’s a Big Twist episode, when they roll the credits at the end and there’s Brooke Hamel singing “I Wanted You to Know” and there’s a montage of all the characters in weepy mode. Yeah. Aww.
They have feelings, and sometimes I think they do care about each other, deep down, very VERY deep down …and other times it takes an “Orange Julius” stand to get them to help another housemate out. But there are poignant moments, but only for so long – then usually something sick or funny happens RIGHT afterwards.
Anyway, here’s some that come to mind from Season One
- Poor Ling Ling shedding tears while getting whipped by Spanky. Come on that was a little wrenching. But then later he gives him “Honor in Hat Form” and the little guy was purring!
- Wooldoor bringing the surviving chipmunk to Clara and they hug and make up. Mind you, she ends up snapping his cute little neck, but before that she seemed genuinely distraught and concerned.
- Xandir sitting by the mall, stood up by Captain Hero. I did feel that he was a little too clingy and needy in this episode, but I felt sorry for him.

Ya. The one that got me most was in the end of The One Wherein There is a Big Twist part 1 when they are all in the plane and Wooldor says:
"While we spun out of control to almost certain death, I wondered what would become of us all. Would we ever return to the Drawn Together House? Would there be an entirely new cast? Would this be the last question I ever asked? When would the reunion special air?
But the most important thing was that we were together. Drawn Together."
That touched me. Dunno why, I've seen things that were suposed to be much more moving then that and been unaffected, but that hit me. At that point I also realized that this show DOES have morales. Every episode has one bureied in it somewhere. Takes a hell of a lot of digging to find it, but they do.
