That's great! Have you recorded any of them? If not, try it. Good practice.
I've got lots of stories. My favorite, or one of them...I played for a wedding that got moved inside at the last minute due to rain. This place ran 7 weddings at the same time, and they treated the guests like CATTLE (they just want to make money). There was NO way I could exit the place except through the kitchen, it was that crowded, and I think fights were breaking out. I was frazzled after playing under intolerable conditions and I didn't want to make multiple trips back and forth, and everyone who worked there was SO RUDE, and I just wanted to get out of there, fast. So I just charged through the kitchen like a bull in a china shop, carrying the harp on one shoulder, amp & duffle bag on the other shoulder, (oh and I'm wearing a long evening gown and heels) and I nearly had a six foot rack of deserts land on top of me.
I will never play there again. Damn wedding mills.

LOL! Thats pretty funny. I notice that all of your stories involve people being arrogant in some way. It just goes to show eh?

Well...it goes with the territory - weddings and entertainment, there is usually a butt load of arrogance.

I supose. It must get hard, dealing with stuff like that over and over again. I think I'd have to punch someone out if that was me... Break a couple spare strings around someone's neck...

Oh believe me I have some wire-wrapped strings that are already coiled, all I had to do was slip them over this guy's head and pull....but again, not worth the jail time I told my Mom the incident and she said I was smart to keep my cool. If I'm going to be in "the public eye" I kind of have to. I like playing for parties and weddings, but when I have something like 6 in a row, I usually lock myself up in my house when I'm done...drink beer...read comic books...and turn off the phone.

Lol. Ya, I dunno, If someone did something and completely broke my base guiter, (out of comparison) I would definately have to punch them out. No matter the consequences, unless of course they were cool with it and apologized and gave at least half a damn. I think mostly I could control myself, but it would be tough, I definately believe you on that one. A nice flight would cool me off. A flight with some good tunes and a cold corona on the ground. That's my cure to anything...

I really can't complain though...cause the money is great! And I don't feel guilty charging what I do. But nowadays when I find there are more wedding requests than I can take on, I refer them to other harpers/harpists. I am happy doing just one or two weddings a month

Ya. It must be rewarding when you don't have some jerk-off ruin your day. It seems like it would be.

flight?? what do you mean by flight? do you have a plane or a hang-glider? If you do I'm jealous!
Hmmm. If the guy DID break the sound-board on my harp...um, yeah I have to admit I don't what I would have done. Looking back, I was close to having a head splitting conniption until I saw the harp was whole.

I never mentioned this before? Huh, I guess not. Anyway, ya I own a plane. Not the nicest one mind you, it's a Skyhawk if that means anything to you, but I love it. It was a gift from my parents a few years back. Flying is something I've always loved doing... It's awesome...

I try not to let them. For the most part it's not bad at all. I did over 20 weddings in 2005, and had only 2 super stressful ones. I don't mean to rant so much, just sharing crazy experiences. They don't happen often.
However I live in the tri-state area, and I do what I can to life in general easier. I am the type of person who will go food shopping a half an hour before the store closes, cause no one is in there! I go into the city early and leave early, to avoid the commuter rush, and it's SO worth it.

Ling Ling's Twin – I heard it can be disconcerting to hear your own voice, and you have to either get past it or just not care. Three of my friends were “immortalized” for the Megas XLS show, Jamie, Coop and Goat, but they had the real life Goat do his own voice-overs, and he did a few tricks to “ham it up”. He had a lot of fun with it. Princess Clara Owns – Ever see Top Gun? I watched it again recently for the millionth time...I’d love to be able to fly one of those fighter jets, I’d even go through the laser surgery to do it if that was the only thing that stood in my way – you can’t fly those things wearing contact lenses, or so I heard. I could be wrong. Anyway, good for you, fly that plane in good health! Looking back on my stories...you’re right, I do a good amount of bitching about people who think they’re all that and a bag of chips...along with obnoxious people in general. I’m sorry. I re-tell the stories because I think they’re funny, and it feels like my life is within a movie sometimes, and I look back and laugh at it. Oh, been wanting to ask – do you like all music, or do you have any favorite bands & genres?
